Writing A Targeted CV
This is an opportunity for students to explore various job possibilities in Greymouth and craft a CV to suit the work place. As they explore the workplaces they become aware of the specific skills required to perform that job and how they can choose their subjects to dovetail with the it.

The initial journey starts with exploring their interests and how they could link to their personal interests and skills. The career planning quiz suits all levels and visually enables the students to take stock of where they are and where they are headed.

The next step entails working through a on online CV to collate all this information. Its structured step-by-step process helps the student build their CV from scratch with examples that provide brilliant scaffolding.

Unit standard 4242 requires the students to build up a targeted CV for a job. The students also maintain a Blog so that they can learn to work on an online word processing environment.
Researching Careers
As he students step into the job arena they will be facing a situation where the employer might ask for them to visualize their achievements and skill set in the form of a live presentation. The students will us their online CV to plan and create a desktop presentation about their career options in Greymouth.

It involves making a desktop presentation with a use of text and graphics to produce output for use as handouts, overheads and slides as well as sequences that can be viewed on screen. Principles of screen layout may include but are not limited to – composition of elements, text hierarchy, consistent typography, balance, harmony, proportion, sequence, contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity.
The presentation is designed for information and based on simple principles like clarity, simplicity, readability, consistency and appropriateness for target audience. The sequence is well planned with contrast, repetition and alignment.
